Introducing Sensors in Medicine Conference

In March 2014, we will hold the second of what is planned to become an annual conference - Sensors in Medicine 2014.  The conference will be held at the Royal Geographic Society building in South Kensington, London, on the 25-26 March 2014.

This year, 2013, we held the inaugural conference, Sensors in Medicine 2013 at the Wellcome Collection in London, also in March.

There are quite a number of conferences about bio-sensors held every year, and it was was perhaps ambitious of us to start a new one.  Sensors in Medicine has unique features which make it a valuable contribution to the existing conference table.  Firstly, it is the only conference devoted to the application of sensors in medicine and healthcare.  And secondly, and this is perhaps why SiM is so important, it seeks to bring together the academic, clinical and commercial worlds.

There is a huge amount of academic research in sensor technology, much of which is never commercialized.  Taking a sensor technology from the lab to adoption as a clinical diagnostic modality is a long and difficult path.  It requires a medical device company to make a significant investment in developing the technology, and then persuading the clinical community of its diagnostic value.  So bringing these three communities together annually to discuss problems, share ideas, and form partnerships, is an important part of the technology transfer process.

We hope to see you in London next March.  Register now for Sensors in Medicine 2014
